All That Glitters is Gold(en Globes 2014)

by Lauren

If you have a television, then you were most likely watching the Golden Globes last night (at least we hope you were!). Every year, we always love tuning in to see the hilarious hosts, the often cringe-worthy acceptance speeches, but most importantly, the FASHION. While there were a few that were quite ghastly (ahem J Law and Lena Dunham), there were some leading ladies (and gents) that were truly owning the red carpet! Here are our picks for best dressed at this year's Golden Globes.

Lizzy Caplan

We almost didn't even recognize this stunner upon first glance! This Mean Girls  star has come a long way, and was rocking this amazing Emilio Pucci.  The textures are so unique, and remind us of a suit of armor fit for fashion warfare!

Cate Blanchett

There's just something regal about Cate and this dress certainly emphasized that fact! This lacy Armani gown has a vintage flair, while still remaining modern with the transparent appearance. We call this subtly sexy.

Kate Beckinsale

Though we aren't familiar with the designer Zuhair Murad, we do know a knockout when we see it! Kate was a glittery mermaid goddess with tanned skin and relaxed, almost beachy hair. This liquid silver dress seemed to just mold to her gorgeous figure.

Lupita Nyong'o

Two words best describe this royal red ensemble: TOTAL QUEEN. Lupita absolutely stole the show last night and left all of Hollywood talking. The bright color of this Ralph Lauren masterpiece totally made her ebony skin glow and the lip color was subtle, yet made a statement. We feel sincerely sorry for whoever followed in her footsteps down the red carpet last night!

Emma Watson

Emma definitely made a bold statement with her Dior outfit, but pulled it together in such a sweet way. We also pick her for our favorite beauty look of the night. With glowing skin, a sleek updo, and a gorgeous red lip, she had the freshest face on the carpet!

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves

This couple definitely wins the best dressed award! Both Matt and his gorgeous wife Camila dazzled in Dolce & Gabbana. We also have to say that Matt looked amazing in that emerald velvet, and gets total style points for that choice!

Caitlin Fitzgerald

It was love at first sight for Spice when she laid eyes on this blue beauty! Her fair hair and light  skin were perfectly complemented by this high -necked ice blue gown. We don't know who Emelia Wickstead (the designer) is and quite frankly we don't care, because this is a winner! Oh.... and we can't forget THOSE SHOES, which happen to be too perfect for words, so just stare.

This concludes our very own Sugar& Spice red carpet rundown! Because there were so many gorgeous gowns, we have to pay tribute to a few more beauties: Leslie Mann (Dolce& Gabbana), Olivia Wilde (Gucci), Naomi Watts (Tom Ford), Elizabeth Moss (J.Mendel).

Until next year...

xx
