Beauty Must Haves

by Lauren

Last night, we all watched Hollywood's finest walk down the red carpet for the 85th Academy Awards. From Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, to Adele and Catherine Zeta Jones, all our favorite leading ladies were looking flawless as usual! We all wonder which products these lovely actresses use to get red carpet ready.  Jen Aniston's makeup artist revealed that she used Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Apparance to help make Jen's eyes pop last night! Here she is looking stunning in classic Hollywood red.

Just like the celebs, we all have our favorite beauty products that we swear by. If we were walking the red carpet, here are a few of the products we would consider our beauty must haves. All items can be found at an Ulta or Sephora near you.

Eyes:

We are huge Benefit Cosmetics fans! It is a high quality wonderful line of products and if you haven't tried it you must! When it comes to our eyes, we must confess we are addicted to coating our lashes in "They're Real".(Emily Maynard is also a fan!) We can't say enough good things about this mascara. It truly does give the appearance of false lashes, without the mess of all that eyelash glue! Another trick we have discovered is layering "They're Real" with Benefit's Bad Gal, which helps to thicken lashes and give them that fluffy appearance!

In addition to our lashes, we have fallen in love with some other amazing products to highlight our eyes. For eyeshadow palettes, we continue to sing the praises of Urban Decay's  NAKED palette. This palette is a stunning collection of neutrals with just the right amount of shimmer. Each and every color is fabulous, but I (Sugar) am a huge fan of "Half Baked", "Smog" and "Darkhorse" and love to layer those three for a night on the town. If  you find palettes intimidating, just check out one of the countless tutorials on Youtube, like this one which has definitely taught me a trick or two ;)

For eyeliner, we love all kinds, from liquids and creams, to pencils and have found Urban Decay to make some gorgeous liners, with staying power. Another lesser known brand that I ( Sugar) have  fallen in love with is TIGI. The bright colors offered by TIGI  are so fun for the spring and summer months. I love the green  shade, which is a darker emerald, and also the royalty which is a deep purple.

Face:

Spice and I have tried many different brands when it comes to foundation. I am a former Bare Escentuals  girl but now swear by Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow.

This foundation is silky, allows your skin to breathe, and stays on for hours. It is a great product. Spice has recently switched to Laura Mercier complexion products and has been very pleased with the formula.

In addition to foundation, we are going to throw out yet another Benefit  product, Watts Up.

This highlighter is amazing and is the perfect finishing touch to give you luminous skin. It is very simple to dab on your cheekbones and temples.

Lips:

I (Sugar) absolutely love my lip wear. As a southern girl, my mama raised me to never leave the house without lipstick and earrings. While I may have strayed from this sentiment a bit, I still consider my lipstick to be a very important part of my getting ready routine. While many girls love glosses and stains, I remain faithful to the standard cream lipstick. Here are some of my picks.

The above colors from left to right: Estee Lauder in Blushing Creme, Smashbox  in Infrared Matte, and  Clinique in Runway Color. The first two are my current faves for either a pretty pink daytime look, or a bold red evening look. The last one was featured on Refinery 29 and was all over the Spring 2013 runways. This color hits the shelves in May and it sure to be an instant classic!

Now that you've seen our picks, what would you add to our list? We love discovering new beauty products just as much as you do, so if you have an obsession with a product that we need in our lives, let us know!  Have a beautiful week!

xoxo
